The Coast Guard doesn't deal with defects or conditions that are not considered a "substantial risk" defect. For boat/equipment issues that do not constitute a safety defect, please contact one of the following organizations (if you have exhausted all other means of resolution with the manufacturer / dealer):
Your state consumer protection agency (usually operated in the State Attorney General's Office).
The Federal Trade Commission. For information about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975, visit www.FTC.gov or call 202-326-3650.
The Consumer Protection Bureau (for Members of BOAT/U.S.) at www.BOATUS.com or 703-461-2856.
** Above text appears on the USCG website. For the complete rundown on what the USCG can do for you, go here:

Kevin, you are the d00d......I bet it helps...jpeezy I contacted Remy this afternoon via the phone. He looked up your boat and said you are dealing with a dealer in Virginia, is this correct? He told me he was going to print this post out and esculate this issue to his supervisor to see what he could get doone. He will probably give you a call to get some facts from you. Well I hope this is a step for the better so that you will be happy in your doo!

I really appreciate everyones help. Really! I'm not taking the boat out anymore. It doesn't want to start. The last time I took it in, the dealer said I was pushing and releasiing the start button too fast. They didn't write it up as a repair because the boat started ok at the dealer. Before I brought it in, I was on the water and absolutely could not start it.Thanks! All we can doo now is sit back and wait to see how it turns out!

Not a word! Unbelievable! I can't believe I'm going to have to waste money finding a lawyer to handle this. I am very bitter and don't feel confortable even calling my dealer at this point. It's turned into a game of "Prove there is something wrong".jpeezy any word on anything from Bombardier?
Thanks for trying to help. I'm getting emails from others who are not happy with thier 4-Tecs. Bombardier has got a problem.

I encourage you to encourage those emailing you about their 4 TECs to join and post here about their troubles. May not help, but certainly couldn't hurt. Anyone considering purchasing one of these needs to be aware of the potential for problems. Thanks for trying to help. I'm getting emails from others who are not happy with thier 4-Tecs. I tried again today and they will absolutely NOT let me talk to Remy. They said I must have a case number. I then explaind that I had been dealing with a girl named Rheena but wasn't getting any help. I was then told that Rheena has equal authority with Remy and talking to him would not help.jpeezy

I will let you know if anything changes. I'm going to stop posting about my problems. I don't want to flood the board with negative stuff. This board is supposed to be a fun place.Well I am sorry to hear that you are having so many problems but keep us posted on what Bombardier finally decides to doo.
Iv'e been treated really bad by Bombardier. I just hate to see anyone else get themselves into the same kind of mess. Bombardier has been very mean and cold regarding my problems. You would think they would want satisfied customers.
I appreciate everything you have done.

Granted the board should be fun, but don't stop posting about your problems. That is why we are here to begin with, as a source for info and help, and just plain "venting" when things like this happen. I would certainly appreciate the info if I were in the same boat as you (pun intended)......I will let you know if anything changes. I'm going to stop posting about my problems. Well can you believe I was stranded again. 4 miles from the dock. Took a 4 day weekend and went to the lake. Put in water. Drove for about an hour. Turned boat off. Would not re-start. Sounds like hydrolock. Had to get a tow. I took the boat back to the dealer. I'm at my wits end.Granted the board should be fun, but don't stop posting about your problems. I'm trying to trade in the 4-Tec for a Speedster200. What is a fair price to pay for the boat, trailer, bimini top, and cover?I bought a Seadoo Sportster 4TEC less than 30 days ago with only 8.5 hours on the motor. A seat anchor screw penetrated the air intake when the boat was made resulting in water in the engine. Seadoo is not handling the situation to my satisfaction. I would not recommend buying ANYTHING from SEADOO or BOMBARDIER! Bad news!

I'd say 10-15% off what you paid prior to taxes, look around ebay and do a search what they've previously listed for.I'm trying to trade in the 4-Tec for a Speedster200. If it was my beans I'd get a Utopia 185 or 205 with the merc 200 or merc 250.
The Merc 200 is one of the most reliable engines out there.

What are the hull issues on the 200? Just curious.Good advice Gabe, right now I would look at something other than a 200 because of various hull issues that are occuring. The Uboat would be a good choice.

Ok, here is what BRP has offered. 1. Add one year to the warranty. 2. Issue a $75 credit for Seadoo stuff. And they act like that is really doing me a favor.I bought a Seadoo Sportster 4TEC less than 30 days ago with only 8.5 hours on the motor. A seat anchor screw penetrated the air intake when the boat was made resulting in water in the engine. Seadoo is not handling the situation to my satisfaction. They say that my latest problem was a grounding problem that only occured after the boat was warmed up. So that would explain why I get stranded every time I use the boat.
I pretty much had to accept their offer. I will never buy another product from them.
BUYERS! BEWARE!!!

I think Sea-Doo has not stepped up to the plate like they should have, sometimes
you live and learn at a price I guess.
Hope the 4-tec keeps working allright for you from now on, if you decide to keep it that is. there is still boating time left in the season.
If you decide to upgrade go to something with a merc engine, someone may correct me if wrong but I think warranty on mercs is 5 years, if not it's cheap to extend to 5 years warranty.
