Hello...this is my first post! Want to say that this is the greatest source of information for doers!
I just recently replaced my '03 Sportster with the Challenger 180 with tower. The only reason I switched was seating From 4 to 8. The sportster was great!!!! But too small. I quite like the 180 but have a few issues. The first several times I had it out I noticed bouncing even on flat water and sluggish perormance out of the hole so I contacted the dealer. Right away he diagnosed it as porpoising and told me that it was very common in 18-20' boats. First he started talking about trim tabs and I got alittle annoyed because all I could see was $$$ signs. I told him that BRP should put tabs on if this is a common problem. With the performance problem he said to give it 10 hours of break-in. So here we are 10 hours and the boat is in getting a service. If I'm lucky I get another few rides before I have to winterize it!! Today he tells me that he can adjust the venturi down a few degree because he thinks it may be point too high and may help?? Then he continued to tell me that BRP is changing the pumps on the 06 models of the 180s and maybe that this could also be a fix.
Just wondering if anyone has had or heard of similar issue
