This year the engine cover hatch on my boat is misbehaving. When I pull the hatch release it doesn't open up on it's own. I need to get some fingers under the edge and get it started, after which it opens right up. The problem is that it's hard to reach the hatch while simultaneously pulling the release handle.

I'm guessing the gas springs are getting worn out, but they work just fine once the hatch starts to open so I'm reluctant to replace them. I just need something to give the hatch an initial push.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this short of replacing the gas springs?

I can't get a clear read on which Solas impeller is appropriate for my stock 2005 Sportster SCIC.

The Solas website has an application chart but it doesn't seem to list my boat. It does list several other boats with the same motor, including the 07 Speedster 150 SCIC, suggesting the Solas SRX-CD-14/19. But the stock BRP impeller for that boat has a different part number from the one for mine, suggesting to me it's not the same.
