removing starter from 1988 seadoo sp
31 May 2011 - 08:28 PM
Anybody know how to remove starter from this machine? I have taken off the tuned pipe. Removed the 1/2" bolt from the top front of the starter. The two small nuts from the rear of the starter plus the bracket. Starter is still attached by one bolt at front of starter on the bottom. Can not get to it (little flaw in the design I believe!!) Do you have to loosen the engine mounts to attack this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Watsie50
low speed steering assist on 2001 seadoo challenger
15 May 2011 - 08:29 AM
Hi folks, brand new to the site yesterday. The low speed steering assist on our 2001 challenger is working intermittently. I believe there are set screws that
adjust the sensitivity (correct term??). The cable seems to be still attached from a quick visual inspection, what should I look for next? Any help is appreciated. Also wondered if anyone has tried to change the spark plugs on this model it has the 200hp engine from Merc. Is it as difficult as I am making it?? Almost 2 hours of my 6'2 frame being contorted into a pretzel. Is there a special wrench to make this somewhat more easy? Thanks again, enjoying the site. Cheers.

new from Bob's Lake in Ontario

We own 3 seadoos. A 2001 challenger "2000" it has the 210 hp. Merc in it, a 1988 XP jetski and a brand new to us 1990 GT. Both jetskis have the 587 yellow engine. We moved from a 1980 searay with 100 hp merc to a 1995 24 searay bowrider with a 250Hp to the challenger. We are a family of 5 (14, 12, 9) with 2 dogs a 9 year old golden and a 5 month old 100Lbs. Saint Bernard. My kids all water ski, wakeboard and tube and I have a blast getting them out on the water. My wife is learning to drive the boat so she will get me up on skis this summer she promises. we have a trailer on abeautiful lake near Sharbot Lake and have blast all summer jetskiing around the area. Joined to get the shop manual on repair for the low speed steering on the challenger and found the site quite interesting. Look forward to finding more out about seadoos as time goes on. Cheers, Watsie50
