servicing went well - sort of! - anyway it was ok and the boat ran fine - need a new battery now as the original at nearly 4 years is loosing its charge. i have decided to take the boat to a dealer and have them connect it up on the buds to get the report on any fault - thay said they would check this out and print a report for free which is great - unfortuantely its a long drive!
In Topic: sub moves?

personally i cant see the point of submerging your boat - apart from the obvious safety risk to you and your passengers, in the speedster whcih is a very lightweight boat on the trailer (600kg) and even less on the water (200kg approx) - bear in mind that a 2ft wave or boat wake will be heavier than the boat and could turn you over, i get the idea of the fun thing - just be careful -here in the uk we boat in the sea and the idea of submerging the engine in salt water is madness - i spray all the metal bits in my engine bay with seadoo lube after each go - if i didnt in salt water even the aluminum will corrode - doing sub moves just increases the problem. i know that some of the water goes through the scupper valve, but the air intakes at the rear may fill your engine bay also - have fun just be careful

if it is wrapped around the drive shaft very tightly the only way to get it off is lie on your back with a very shart knife (wear eye protection) and gradually cut through each section of rope - well this is how i removed my ski rope! check the impeller and wear ring.
DONT LIE DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH WHEN CUTTING - INCASE YOU DROP THE KNIFE - ALTERNATIVELY IF YOU DONT FEEL SAFE DOING THIS TAKE THE BOAT TO YOUR DEALER
ALSO BECAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH THE HULL, CUT THE RUBBER BOOT ON THE SHAFT OR SCRATCH THE SHAFT ITSELF WITH THE KNIFE.

In Topic: Hydro-Turf replacing carpet
23 June 2008 - 04:08 AM
would you put carpet on your patio? why do boat manufacturers do it - for one reason in my mind - when they ask you to take your shoes off in the showroom it feels nice underfoot - apart from that its about as useful as a ash tray on a motorbike - hydro-turf is fantastic - ive had mine down now for its 4th year now - it hasnt rotted, faded, torn worn away and doesnt smell - when i hose the boat down it comes up like new - cleaning the carpet at home is a pain in the proverbial at the best of times - even in the pickup it seems a little mad - on a boat is a no-brainer.
in fact if i could replace all my carpets in the house with hydroturf and once a week flush the house with fresh water i would!
