I ran 4 rocks into my impeller. 3 were easy to take out but the 4th one I had to knock out from the rear of the jet with a metal rodas my impeller was seized. Now when I take off I've lost lots of jam and it revs high. I have to ease into the throttle to get on plane. Once I'm on plain I can still get my top end speed of 52 mph ? That part baffles me.
2000 Challenger 240 hp.
I also believe my spring is worn on my intake grate. Not sure if that would have anything to do with this.
Thanks,
Wayne

MT2 Monster Tower
21 June 2008 - 03:28 AM
Don't buy an MT2 tower for a 2000 or 1800. It's a great looking tower and I spent more to get this new sleek looking tower over the MT1 tower. I had to install it towards the back of the boat as there is no access to the front. I have it so it lays down on the swimplatform but that caused the front arms to have a conflict with the windshields opening so I had to force them back further. Now I cannot install a mirror because the tower is a touch too far back. Not impressed with it. Get the MT1 only.
Help please !

Ran over the ski rope this weekend. Engine stalled. Didn't realize I did it so I cranked it once to get it started and of course nothing. I realized I sucked the rope up. We went back to shore and put it on the trailer and cut about 20 feet of rope out of it !
Then I put the boat back in the water. She is now smoking the blues and stalls out at idle. Then it is very hard to start. We had to take the plugs out as they were drenched in gas. My only thoughts at this point is maybe when I tried to start it that it knocked the timing out somehow and now it is running way too rich.
Any other thoughts on this problem ?
I used 2/3 of a tank of fuel and we hardly did anything. Maybe 20 minutes of pulling a tube and then up and down the lake for short distances. This was my first time to really use this boat for a full weekend and I am thinking the only reason I used so much fuel is because of how rich it is running. Also FYI the boat runs perfect wide open. The only problem is in idle. It smoke, chugs, and barely stays running. You have to hit the throttle to keep it going.
Thanks for the help guys !

Sundeck fills with air during travel
05 May 2008 - 07:05 PM
Has anyone experienced their sundeck material filling with air to a large bubble during travelling ? Seems bizarre how this could happen as my interior is in excellent condition. I am worried on a long trip it will tear. I do not travel with tarps ever because the wind destroys those as well. I was thinking of gluing the vinyl to the plastic top. Has anyone done that ?
Thanks

Pulling power Challenger 2000
02 March 2008 - 01:32 PM
Hi I just bought a 2000 Challenger 2000 w/ the 240hp Merc. I've owned PWC's before and outboard boats but never a jet boat. I was wondering how the pulling power is on this jetboat. We do a lot of tubing with multiple tubes. Does this boat have enough pulling power to pull 3 tubes with adults ? How strong are the ski poles ?
Also what is everyone's top end speed on theirs ? I am hoping for 55mph with one person on flat water.
Can't wait for the ice to melt up here in Alberta !

ps please note my avatar is a Speedster. I bought one of those as well
