Air Intake
09 May 2009 - 09:24 PM
So, i have been reading in other forums about people adding air intakes for their 4-tecs.
It has got me wondering, how does air get into the engine compartment? I mean, on my SK, I don't see any intake areas, except maybe 1 plastic cover. The one on the other side is where the blower is hooked up. The hood has a rubber gasket, and usually a tray installed, so that isn't useful.
Would trying to get more "fresh" air into the engine bay be any benefit? I mean, it can't hurt, right?

Adjusting Idle
07 May 2009 - 05:40 PM
I finished "rebuilding" both carbs on my '99 Speedster SK.
I just started both engines, and after a little cranking, they both fired up nicely.
One thing I am wondering about is the idle. I am running dry (only for a SHORT time) and see both engines are idling around 2500 RPMs. I did not touch the adjustment screws during my work, and put both (hi and low) speed adjustment screws in the same spot.
My question is, should I turn up both idle screws to get to 3000 RPMs? I guess it would be easier to do not on land, but I still don't know if it will be simple.
From what I read, the 720s should idle at 3000 dry, to get to around 1500 wet. I don't recall where it idled last season.
Thanks in advance!

My Hydro Turf Installation
05 May 2009 - 09:14 PM
So, instead of continuing to derail the "ordered" thread, I figured I would post my installation experience in a new thread.
I ordered my turf on Friday, afternoon (EST) I believe.
It has not shipped as of yet, but I started prepping already.
I took the OEM mats of the platform. The mats both came off easily, and intact. The did however, leave all the adhesive on the boat. So I spent a while peeling it all off by hand. Now my fingernails are sore.
I then started to remove the adhesive residue, but ran out of "goof-off". Now I have these globs of adhesive smeared around the platform.
I took some pics, and will post them tomorrow.
So far, I think I am like an hour into the process, but I don't know if everybody will need to do this.
EDIT: Can a mod fix the title for me?
