Plastic bag sucked in to impeller shaft
08 August 2004 - 06:35 PM
The water is very polluted where I launch out of. Today I got a Plastic bag sucked in to impeller shaft. I was travelling at idle speed and when I gave it some gas...I got the cavitation sound. I stopped the boat and cleared the inlet ( found a black plastic garbage bag stuck in there) I had to travel back to the boat ramp at idle speed....after i got the boat home the intake was clean ,but the exhaust jet was not. with a flashlight I can see some black plastic bag aft of the impeller between the impeller and the black blade things on the jet nozzle. It must be wrapped around the back of the shaft .... I tried using a coat-hanger that I turned into a hook to try and free the plastic bag off the shaft...Thats not working too well....Does any one have any ideas...I don't want to take it apart if I don't have too. I don't have a shop book either.
Why don't I have an AIR FILTER?

I have an air silencer but according to my dealer my 2004 sportster LE DI does not have an AIR FILTER. Other than Sea Doo trying to suck out every last drop of HP out of that engine does anyone know why Sea Doo would rather have my boat ingest dirty air?
Sportster LE DI 130 HP

How much water should normally drain from the bilge plugs after a few hours of boating?
After I pull my boat from the water at least a half gallon of water comes out of the bilge after I remove the plugs. Is this normal?
