basically the sea condition was rubbish - what you needed was a deep v hull on a rib and a 250 outboard to plough through it - this was one thing i was worried about with doos was their seaworthiness - lake boats everybody told me - not so - the 4tec polughed nicely through the chop with just a little wind driven spray coming inboard (to be expected with a small freebaord) if anyone has riden a reasonabel size jetbike at sea, this is how the 4tec drove - no proble at all - infact it was a pleasant surprise, it cut through the chop nicely at about 4000-5000rpm delivering around 30-35mph occasionally jumping, but steady all the time - steering was true even going across the chop.
In short any brits thinking of buying one of these to use at sea - do not be put off by the lake boat thing - its not so - these boats handle well at sea - if you happen to be mad enough to take them out in a cold northwesterly!!!!

Model: 2005 SS MIrage

Wanted to have the family practice loading and unloading while there weren't a bunch of yokels pointing and laughing! Brought along an experienced boater who said we couldn't catch up with the seagulls. I told him to open it up and they quickly gave up their formation. We all learned to hold a point on the dock in the wind.
Second outing:

Had Grandpa with us this time. I think he had a real good time, but didn't want to drive the boat. Did a mini-sub (just a big spray), and I really surprised him. I think my 15 yr old is a better driver than my 17 yr old!

Took it easy on the motor, varied rpm up to 5000 rpm and no more then half throttle. This was also our maiden voyage and first crack at launching and loading our new Doo, fairly comical
