I recently purchased a 97 Speedster and it is a great boat for me as I am new to the whole sport boat thing. I have had it out a few times and it has run great until this past Sunday. It was a typical day on the river for my fiance and I. The boat ran and performed great until we were ready to leave. We started up river with both motors running 7500rpm then i noticed the left motor rpm starting to drop without me moving the throttle. After getting it home i popped the top and started my normal diagnosis. I removed the air cleaner assembly and noticed there is a short cable that was not attached and I assume it should be. Can anyone help?

Doug, it is hard to say exactly what cable this might be. It could be a throttle cable, but I don't want to make any assumptions. We do have a shop manual, http://seadoosportbo...er-shop-manual/, available for your boat - this should be able to assist you with better pin-pointing what exact cable this is.

I was reading another forum and I came across a guy who has the same problem I do and it is when i attempt to throttle up on my 1997, twin rotax speedster, the left engine will only rev up to 6000 or 7000 rpm's for a minute, then cuts back to 4000. will do this over and over. I was wandering if it's the rev limiter or maybe a carb problem. ANY HELP?

Yes it could be either the rev limiter or a carb problem, it is just really difficult to accurately diagnose remotely. Here are a couple of posts that might point you in the right direction regarding these possible issues. I have also posted a how-to on rebuilding the carb if this is the determined problem. Keep us posted on your findings.

So after a few different things I found out that the motor was getting exhaust air in it and not clean air. The exhaust air is coming from the right engine exhaust which has a hole in the coupler. I ordered new ones and the should be here this week. Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening in the future?

Okay well that rules out my assumption, I was thinking maybe the saltwater corroded something in there causing the hole.

Speaking of salt water corrosion On the Port engine I had a pin hole water leak in the upper portion of the exhaust pipe right were it appears there is a cast mold mark...while the engine was running it was squirting out under high pressure, not a lot of water, but!!... took the pipe out (just the upper section)I drilled it out to 5mm tapped it and but in a SS bolt...no more leak.
