Here is the latest scoop.
Ran Seafoam through the carbs a couple of ounces and let sit. Then I fouled two sets of plugs so it definately loosened up the carbon. Put some in the fuel and the verdict is out on that.
Where I am is the starboard engine still only gets to 4500 RPM at 1/2 throttle. If I give it more gas the engine boggs down and falls back to like 3500 or so but when I pull back to the 1/2 throttle it goes back to 4500RPM. My carb is set at L=1 turn and H = 1/4 turn. The Port engine has it's carbs configured this way.
My engine is a 657X and does NOT have the RAVE valves. So I am back to the opinion that the exaust ports may have carbon build up which is limiting the top RPM.
My boat is a 1995 Speedster and it seems like there is a RPM limiter problem. Is there a way to disable the RPM rev limiter to test to see if this is the case?
If anyone has had a similiar issue and has a solution or any direction let me know.

Just a thought.Does your boat have a computer module for the engines? If so, the computer may automatically limit rpm to a factory preset level to prevent further damage to the engines once it has picked up a fault through sensors.I know that my 2004 Speedster is configured this way.I hope this might help.Gary.
