SEA-DOO HONOURED WITH AWARD FOR COMMITMENT TO BOATING SAFETY |
| Posted by Kevin Leclair - 03-1-09 20:02 - 0 comments |
Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) was recognized with an award for its commitment to boating safety from the United States Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety at this year’s Miami International Boat Show. The company received the award for its new intelligent Brake and Reverse (iBR) system featured on its new 2009 Sea-Doo GTX Limited iS 255 and the RXT iS 255 PWCs. The company has also earned an Innovation Award from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) for the same system and a new suspension system called intelligent Suspension (iS), designed to give the rider more control while underway. According to BRP, the iBR system allows the operator to stop within a remarkably shorter distance, while maintaining more control. The system utilizes a computer to automatically activate the perfect combination of control steps to quickly and safely activate reverse thrust. By simply squeezing a brake handle, the computer instantly moves the throttle to idle, drops the reverse gate, then automatically applies the optimum amount of reverse thrust, according to speed and amount of braking applied.

Coast Guard presents Boating Safety Award to BRP |
| Posted by Kevin Leclair - 09-13-08 14:35 - 0 comments |
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety recognizes Bombardier Recreational Products today with its Boating Safety Award. The award is given to BRP for its commitment to improving boating safety through the introduction of an unprecedented electronically controlled hand-braking system on two of its most popular and biggest selling 2009 Sea-Doo personal watercraft models. This iBR (intelligent brake and reverse) braking innovation adds tremendously to the safety provided by the off-throttle and off-power steering systems that have been introduced to the personal watercraft arena. It allows the operator to stop the personal watercraft within a remarkably shorter distance and maintain much better control of the vessel. The Coast Guard is optimistic that this innovative braking system will decrease the number of personal watercraft accidents, and the unfortunate deaths and injuries that can result from these accidents. "The braking capability of this new design is not just an evolutionary improvement but a revolutionary improvement to the safety of these vessels," said Capt. Mark Rizzo, chief of the Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety. "Although this new braking system should help prevent some accidents, the Coast Guard continues its efforts to educate PWC riders to keep a safe distance from other vessels." The U.S. Coast Guard Office of Auxiliary and Boating Safety is dedicated to reducing loss of life, injuries, and property damage that occur on U.S. waterways by improving the knowledge, skills, and abilities of recreational boaters. Thanks to Kevin Seeber at Kingsland Marine we have some pictures of the new 2009 SeaDoo Sport Boats Line-Up! Here is a quote from Kevin, he is attending the SeaDoo convention in Dallas. QUOTE I will send pics of the 150 Speedster tomorrow as it isn't here. It will be available in 155, 215, and 255 HP configurations and looks like the 2006 model with black hull and either red or yellow top. The 180 Challenger is available in red or blue hull in either thr regular or SE editions. The 230 Challenger is available in either dark red or a light beige in the regular, SE, or SP model whch has the same colors as the WAKE without a lot of the Wake options. The maximum horsepower is 510, the SP is either 310 or 430, the regular is 310 only, the SE model is either 430 or 510 as is the WAKE! The 200 and 230 Wake are pretty much the same design as is the Islandia. The 200 Speedster is now available in either white or red, the only horsepower available is 430. The Utopia has a new black hull and is available in either 310 or 430 HP. Gotta go! BRP Redefines The Future of Boating (2008 Models) |
| Posted by Kevin Leclair - 10-4-07 10:48 - 0 comments |
Palm Desert, CA, August 23, 2007 - The 2008 Sea-Doo® sport boats are redefining the mainstream boating market with a host of innovative features and consumer choices, including two premier, 7-metre / 23-foot contenders, the 230 Challenger* and 230 WAKE™. The 2008 Sea-Doo sport boats offer a unique combination of innovation, performance, ease-of-use, versatility, peace-of-mind, reliability, and convenience that provide more ways for families to have fun on the water. "The 2008 Sea-Doo sport boats are designed and engineered from the ground up as totally integrated units. All systems function in complete harmony, making each model a unique, exhilarating experience to drive," said Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager, Snowmobile, Watercraft, ATV and Sport boat - North America. SEA-DOO DIRECT DRIVE JET PROPULSION SYSTEM: The Sea-Doo sport boat competitive edge for 2008 starts with the Sea-Doo direct drive jet propulsion system (see Technology Backgrounder for details). This innovative system provides boaters with five key advantages over traditional stern drives: 1. Quick directional response; 2. Direct power; 3. Faster planing; 4. Reduced draft; and 5. Greater peace-of-mind. SEA-DOO 4-STROKE ROTAX® 4-TEC® MARINE ENGINE: The heart of the Sea-Doo direct drive jet propulsion system is the 4-stroke Rotax 4-TEC marine engine, calibrated specifically for sport boats and integrally engineered to synchronize seamlessly with all the sport boat systems, including fuel and electrical. The Rotax 4-TEC engine also provides high performance, lower maintenance requirements and improved ease-of-use. For 2008, all Rotax engines in Sea-Doo sport boats meet the stringent CARB 3-star ultra-low-emission standard, while meeting EC rules for low noise. NEW ON SEA-DOO 230 CHALLENGER & 180 CHALLENGER: The Sea-Doo sport boat advantage continues with trendsetting and award winning styling created at the BRP state of the art design centre. For 2008, the 230 Challenger boat offers a new walk-through transom for better accessibility, as well as elegant new coloration. The 180 Challenger features a new performance gauge facia. NEW SEA-DOO SATELLITE-READY AM/FM/CD STEREO WITH MP3 PORT: For 2008, all Sea-Doo sport boats feature a new satellite-ready AM/FM/CD stereo with MP3 port. This new sound system delivers ample power to provide premium quality sound for all on-water adventures. SE models are equipped with a driver-side stereo remote for added convenience, while WAKE models feature a 125W per channel amplifier with four tower speakers and a PA system to entertain and communicate with those being towed. SEA-DOO INNOVATION MAXIMIZES SPACE & VERSATILITY: Larger cockpits and greater passenger capacity in each segment mean more space for having more fun, with more friends. * The exclusive Sea-Doo retractable windshield allows customized wind protection for the operator and passengers, as well as providing improved visibility and communication with the bow area. * The Sea-Doo exclusive Fold 'n Stow™ door effectively isolates the cockpit when closed, protecting the occupants from wind, but folds down and slides out of sight when not in use. * Other amenities on many models, such as easy-to-use swim platforms, convenient clean-up interiors with snap-in carpet, built-in or removable ice chests, and ski pylons, further enhance the outstanding versatility of Sea-Doo sport boats. SEA-DOO SPORT BOATS ARE SERIOUS ABOUT TOW SPORTS: For 2008, BRP offers a complete family of Sea-Doo WAKE models, including its largest ever sport boat, the 230 WAKE. With premium wakeboarding features as value-added standard equipment, these turnon-a-dime sport boats pull skiers, wakeboarders and wakeskaters up out of the water quickly and easily. "Our 2008 line-up offers versatile, fun-filled, hassle-free ownership and functional innovation to boaters who spend their leisure hours on the water with their families," concluded Leduc. "Along with the Sea-Doo direct drive jet propulsion system, that's more good reasons why BRP is among the top five boat manufacturers, and Sea-Doo is one of the world's biggest marine brands."¯ www.brp.com®, ™ and the BRP logo are trademarks of Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. or its affiliates. * Trademark of Bombardier Inc., used under license.
