I have a 97 speedster with the twin 717 motors in it and the oil in the tank looks to be a greenish color. I was reading the various posts that say you should drain your oil tank if you switch brands or types but none of them really say if you need to do it with the Seadoo brands.
The oil in the tank is a dark green color it looks like. It was supposed to be the original owner of it and always had it professionally serviced so I'm guessing he used the old Seadoo Mineral based oil. Does anyone know if that is a dark green in color because the local dealer doesn't seam to know much?
The local dealer told me I should run the Synthetic Blend which looks to be a different color. He said you can mix it with the old Mineral based one because it is a blend and would be much better for it. He also said the old Mineral oil is getting harder and harder to find and will probably be phased out.
So do I listen to him and use the Seadoo Synthetic blend or stick with the older Mineral based one?
And if using the synthetic do I not worry about draining the tank or should I drain the tank to make sure there isn't a problem with mixing the oils.
