My first guess would be the wear ring, what kind of shape is it in?

Sorry should have mentioned I had the wear ring replaced and it did not help.

I know 2005 was the first year for the 18ft Challenger, the first problem I encounter was porposing even in calm weather. The dealer installed trim tabs that seemed to eliminate this problem.

Not sure if 2005 being the first year Seadoo had not worked out all the bugs?

Yes the little fins do make a diffrence. I was going to only replace the impeller and wear ring (after I tried to make a river drege out of my boat last year) but the mech. said I would still have problems if I did not replace the pump support. It is expenseive but nessasary.

Hi, new to the forum and also have the same problem with my 2005 18ft SC Challenger.

During take off if you put the throttle in the full postion the engine seems to "cavitate" until you reduce power.

Have replaced the wear ring but this did not help.

Did anyone find a solution that works?
