Steering issues
26 June 2011 - 09:07 PM
Hey guys got my 99 Challenger 1800 running tip top but the steering is giving me an issue, its hard to turn and doesnt turn right very well at all. The wheel will go like 3/4 of a turn to the left but only about 1/4 turn to the right. Turning left I can slide the boat around no problem but to the right its like got nothing unless i am on plain and moving really good. Any idea of what to look for, i mean the wheel is centered and all. While running i have to play with the wheel to keep the boat straight but i think thats just the way these are.

just got a 99 1800 help me
15 June 2011 - 11:23 PM
Hey guys i just got a 1999 challenger 1800 that started straight up when i went to look at it and it was cold, didnt think anything about it, as i did a comp test and they were all 150s so figured i would take it. get it home and see that the throttles dont control the motors, took the throttle controls out of the boat and that wasn't it. Figured it might be the carbs so pulled them and there are so gunked up and stiff that u cant get them to open, so i took them off and tried to clean them up and there still not returning to the closed position by themselves. I did however get the throttle to open them, but the motor still just revs at about 4400rpm no matter where i have the throttle at. If i pull the choke out a little i can control the rpms but thats about it. please help me.
