So I will start back in September, end of the season last year. Last time running my boat in early Sept she ran just fine. I had a minor issue with my trailer bunks(important later on). I took it in to get winterized which includes fuel stabilization (only had 4-5 gallons left)
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, I pulled her out of the garage to do some minor work (replace horn and such). I tried starting and she cranked over after a few tries. Lots of smoke from the fogging. Killed it pretty much as soon as she revved up,
Fast forward again to Saturday. I dropped her in the water to replace the bunks that were ate up from last season. Even though I was not going for a drive, I wanted to try and start her. Cranked strong but no start for a few tries, Then I got her started for a second and she died. Figured another try or 2 and it would be fine but had no luck after that.
Yesterday we tried starting it again with no luck. It cranks strong but nothing more... I added 6 gallons of fresh gas, but im sure that has not made it down the fuel line yet. I also replaced the plugs. They were looking wet like it might be getting flooded so I left them out and covered with a rag until I try again.
So I am thinking maybe the gas in the lines is bad and I might have to drain some out until I get fresh gas. If this is likely the problem, and good ways to do this? Any other ideas for the cause?
Thanks in advance! Please let me know if you need any more info,
Eric

2003 Sportster Not Wanting to Start...

Need DESS Key!
06 June 2011 - 03:29 PM
So a friend of mine accidently lost my key. Calling around locally, there is one shop that will sell me a key for sixty something bucks, but then wants 99 to program it. If I understand correctly programming only takes about 2 minutes. This is an absolute RIP OFF.
Im also getting conflicting information that the keys for Jet Boats, are different than PWC. I did notice that the dess key for sale on amazon says it will not work for the Boats. One of the local Seadoo PWC dealers said they cant even order or program the Boat keys. But then I also see keys that work with both! Whats up with that?!

Intake Grate Broken
25 May 2011 - 05:01 PM
So I just got my 2002 Sportster LE DI. I got a great deal on it, the only thing it needs is the intake grate replaced. I have one ordered, only the bolts on the old one appear to have been stripped.
From what I can tell, the most forward bolts come down from the engine compartment just under the shaft. Looks like a large blob of silicone over them to make everything water tight. The 2 rear bolts appear to go into a plastic piece. Looks like the bolts went into plastic inserts which also must have gotten torn out.
So....my proposed solution for the front 2 bolts is to pry away all of the silicone, pull the stripped bolts out and replace them. Then recover with some type of silicone.
What I need to know is the size of the bolts so I know what size inserts I need to get ordered.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks,
Eric
