Did you get any codes on the dash? I had this same thing happen when my throttle position sensor failed, the RPM's would jump without any change in throttle.

We have testing the new tower design, it does not shake or rattle.

What about the new forward swept waketower? Does it shake and rattle?

I like the black jugs, can't do that stuff in Jersey, they gotta be red for gasoline.

Seems like a good plan though.

I haven't heard of a key going bad yet so I wouldn't say it's common, but it does have a coded chip inside of it so it could potentially become an intermittent problem like you are describing. They are pretty expensive too (~$95).
