In Topic: Why did you buy a Challenger 180 instead of a Glastron 185 ,etc bowrider???

i have had 4 or 5 seadoo and yamaha jet boats over the years, just for the shallow water river use. but i will say the lack of that outdrive and prop hanging down is also a huge plus. not only safety but almost zero maint involved, and try to repair that outdrive when you bang something in the water $$$$. these challenger boats will accelerate and get on plane quicker and that is more important than that the extra 5mph top speed from a i/o boat. i also have a large outdrive boat that runs 70mph which is great too, but the pure adrenalin rush and fun factor is always there in the seadoo....buy the seadoo

i went out today for the first time in my newly aquired 2006 180 and the bottom and mid range power was impressive but i only got 42 mph top end with 3/4 tank of fuel and 2 large adults. i really didn't expect much more top speed, but my 28' boat runs 72 mph so it's kinda slow feeling, but fun!...lol. so your right in there i would say.

thanks Keith for the reply. we boat at Millerton lake, Pine flat lake, and now with the seadoo boat the Kings river. we have a big cat that we take to the lake, but we always try to have a jet boat or pwc for the river near the house, so this year we will enjoy the challenger on the river. i took the seadoo out today for a basic test run at the lake to make sure everything worked before i put it in the river with a current, the seadoo boat worked flawless! here is a quick pic of my cat and the seadoo, if anyone from this area see's either boat pull up and say hello. i still need some opinion's on which oil and filter to run in the seadoo, as well as helpful tips on the oil change precedureWelcome aboard Fresno! I am no expert being new to boats myself, but the shop manuals are available from this site, and they do detail out the procedure. Where do you boat? We have a new link called Locations where you can add and see if there is anyone else in your area.
