In June, I'm going from Miami to Bimini on my Utopia. Doing the homework from now til then but wanted to see if anyone else in the area was interested. I will be trailering from Sarasota to Miami, make the 45 mile run, stay a few days in Bimini and then back to Miami (all based on weather).
Thanks,
Martin

New DOO'r in Venice FL

Hi all,
I already posted a question and put some pics in the gallery but wanted to introduce myself.
Just bought (about 2 months ago) a 2004 Utopia 205 with the 250 Optimax.
Freaking GREAT boat! A lot of fun, quick to plane and gets quickly up to full speed (55 ish).
A bit squirrely at the slow speeds (2000rpm or lower) but what can you expect from a floating clam shell (what I call it).
My wife, 10 year old son and I are loving it here in Venice/Sarasota Florida and would love to find other DOO boaters in the area to get together (stump pass, snake island etc).
Take care and see ya around.

2004 205 Ignition Switch replacement possible?
01 June 2011 - 04:09 PM
My lovely plastic ignition switch (3 way?) on my 2004 Utopia 205 (250) is very squirrely. I'm having a hard time keeping it from turning when starting the engine.
I was planning on replacing the plastic one with a metal 3 way switch, so I can tighten it down properly, from West Marine but after looking at the replacement parts available for my boat, it seems there is only an ignition assembly for over $300.
Can i replace with a $40 ignition switch, gorilla glue the whole thing so it doesn't turn any more or buy the assembly?
Thanks in advance!
