Thanks for the info .... this boat actually has no spark, so was wanting the ohm'sDiagnostic Mode:
Beeps heard when the key is on and start/stop button is pressed
1 short beep (while moving shifter towards neutral) - Confirms shifter is in neutral, engine is ready to start.
4 short short beeps (while pushing start button) - Shifter is not in neutral position.
8 short beeps - Faulty MPEM (communication error between memory and micro-controller).
Continuously Beeps - Engine overheating
MPEM Test
To ease working, the electrical box may be removed from its mounting location and laid flat on the engine. For that loosen cable retaining nuts and pull cables out of electrical box.
Always use a resistor type spark plug otherwise RFI might affect MPEM operation.
Always check your battery connections/condition if having electrical problems, never charge the battery while connected to the unit.
Check your MPEM supply fuse and visually inspect all wiring and connections.
The Deutsch connector is the large 40-circuit part with the MPEM.
Wire numbers and connector positions refer to wiring diagram. The first 40 numbers are located in the Deutsch connector (I am not sure if the wires are marked on the boat, I have the diagram scanned I can e-mail it to you).
Ignition Switch
Disconnect switch connectors behind dashboard to check its operation. Using an ohmmeter, take a resitance reading between its posts. When the key is in the off position, reading should be infinite when the key is on the on position the reading should not exceed 1 ohm.
Start Stop Switch
Take a resistance reading at the switch's terminals. When not pressed Infinite, When the switch is pressed resistance should not exceed 1 ohm.
With switch disconnected, check voltage in the harness where the switch connects. Safety Lanyard must be on and ignition switch on. Connect voltmeter's pos lead to position A of weather pack. Connect neg lead to B of weather pack. Voltage should be about 12v (voltage of battery).
IF NOT - post and I will go further
Neutral Switch
When shifter level is in the neutral position, the neutral switch is electronically closed. Take a reading at the connectors, when switch is not pressed, resistance should be infinite, when not pressed should not exceed 1 ohm.
MPEM neutral inlet corresponds to RED/WHITE wire in position 3 of Deutsch connector. To check harness, disconnect it from the electrical box. ensure wire continuity between positions no. 3 and no. 7 of connector when shifter is in neutral. Also ensure that Black wire, in position no.7 is perfectly grounded.if the problem is not solved replace the MPEM.
Ok not sure how much that will helped you. That is almost word for word out of the manual (with some slight modification for my typing ease) Let me know if any of this helps, if you post some more info I can try to give you some better info....
for the leads out of the mpem , but ,this boat belongs to a friend , and he ordered
a new mpem and installed and the boat is now running .....so the mpem was bad .
Good thing thats what it was at the cost of 900.00 for the module. I would still like
to see if there is a way to remove the sealer on the mpem and see if I can tell which component is bad. But again thanks for the response
