Stator Problem
08 July 2005 - 09:47 AM
i'm being told the stator on my 2000 challenger 1800 is gone..that's the merc 210 v6 not the 240 efi.. anybody have input on the life of these units/???
also, after reading some threads, i lube up the drive gear on the starter with wd40 (which i know is non conductive...) stator (which i'm told is located right nder the fly wheel) went right after that ... i'm not a big believer in coincidence...any possibility they are connected. finally i'm being told $400 to replace it... seem reasonable???? seems a littel high to me!
thanks

Now I Really Feel Dumb

Ok, so my new to me 1800 came with a Seadoo trailering cover however, no instructions..the problem obviously is not with the cover(even i figured that out!) the problem is with the two posts that are supposed to hold the cover up. one has two fixed length blue straps with loops on the end and the other has adjustable length black straps with clips. they are tied by a fixed strap in the center. i am sure u veterans are familiar with this.. if i hook the blue fixed length straps to the front cleats, they are too long and the pole ends up in the opening between the two storage bins and doesn't reach the canvaas. if turn it around and hook the bule straps to the back cleats, the pole ends up on the seat ..which isn't too bad..but the front pole still wont' reach far enough forward. if i adjust the straps so that the front pole is positioned correctly, then the blue straps on the rear don't reach the cleats and i don't see anywhere else to hook them ..
Am i missing something or did someone give me the wrong equipment to torment me!!!
Help!
thanks
