To me it still sounds like too much "juice" coming through the wires. Have you checked the wires with some type of voltage meter, seems like too much voltage would also cause the burning?

I got a replacement Stator from a buddy of mine. Do you think it will burn that one out? I got this motor from some dude that I did a trade and I never looked at the stator before I installed the motor. So I'm not sure what condition it was in.

ok, so i decided to take off the 3 wires, one at a time, and nothing blew. So i put them all back togerther and the fuse blew. So I undid all the motor mounts and turned the motor on her side, took off the cover and this is what i found with a heavy smell of electrical burn. what do you guys suggest? could this cause my problem?

quick question, where would the rectifier be on the boat? someone on the other forum told me to find the locate the rectifier, and disconnect the "red" wire. If stops blowing, replace rectifier, if it does pop, unplug yellow wires, if so, then its your stator assy grounding out. Need to remove the mag cover and take a peek.

hmmm, this problem is a little strange, I know I grounded down the engine properly. i guess im going to have to look for anything electrical, i dont think my mpem is blown, just because the boat does start and run. Thanks for that link kevin, i'll start looking into it. Maybe i'll have to also check the stator with my ohm meter, see if its reading what it should.
