I have a 2002 Utopia 205 with a 240EFI. I filled the tank at the beginning of May when it went in the water. It sat for a month and a half without being run. When you go to throttle up to come up on a plane, the engine bogs down and almost quits. And some times does. It would idel fine at the dock and going out the channel.
I have replaced the fuel water separator and I have also replaced the inline fuel filter with a smaller automotive filter; because the Merc part is on it's way and will be here in 10 days, but I want to use the boat now. I got lots of dirt out of the inline filter when I took it off so I thought my problem was fixed. BUT it is still the same. I am going to try to put a length of fule hose directly in to a fresh can of gas and hook it to a new fuel filter and give it a try to help rule out bad gas from the onboard tank.
Then if that works, I will try some dry gas in the tank and a big auxiliary fuel filter to see if I can salvage the old gas. Any other ideas?
