How easy is it to fry your impellar?
21 July 2010 - 01:14 PM
Was out in the delaware river last week, got something stuck in the intake of the left engine of our 230 challenger. We started to limp back in at no wake speed on both engines until the left began to overheat. we immediately cut the left engine and journeyed home on the right. the next day we did find a piece of plastic wedged in there. We removed debris and put the boat in the water, both engines were firing and there were no engine warnings or over heating but it is still rattling like there is something in there. When I brought it back into the marina the dock hand took a look and said that we may have fried our impellar. My real question is would the engine fire and not throw a check engine light if the impellar was damaged or is it more likely that there is just another little rascal hiding behind something? Your thoughts?
Best way to clear the engine when debris gets caught in the intake

Does anyone have any tricks for clearing the intakes of debris while the boat is still in the water. The Delaware River isnt the cleanest body of water on the planet and needless to say odd objects find their way into the jets of our boat. Does anyone have any tips to try and clear the debris? We have tried rocking the boat side to side, powering forward and then in reverse.. Sometimes it seems to work, sometimes nothing.
