Check the rear of the boat just above the ladder. The gap between were the top mold and the bottom mold of the boat come together. You will probably have to take the molding off to see it. When it's in the water look for bubbles. Most of the time this area is above the water especially when the boat is moving but when it's not moving and waves push up to he area water enters. If this is the problem just go get some marine grade caulk and caulk as much of the gap as needed and fasten the molding back in place.

#22228 Engine Trouble - Why me !! 05 Seadoo Sporster Scic
Posted by Dino on 11 July 2011 - 10:27 PM
I purchased a 2005 Seadoo Sporster SCIC in April of 2011. I ran it a few time and it seemed to run very good. Did some research and decided to have the supercharger serviced by a local Seadoo dealer. In June I had the super charger rebuilt with the SS washers, oil changed, Jet pump greased and antifreeze flushed and filled. Took the boat out and it would only get to like 7700 RPM. Previously before service it ran 8000 no problem. Took it back to the dealer and they checked the supercharger and advised me it was running fine. They said its possible that the supercharger may need to break in some. Took it out a couple more times and same 7600 to 7700 RPMs only. I also noticed a slight smell of oil burning and after running at high RPM for a while and slowing down a bit a smoke for about 5 to 10 seconds. So i checked the oil myself and it appeared to be high. I took the boat home hooked it up to the hose again and followed the instructions on checking the oil. The oil appeared to be high every time i checked it. Brought the boat back to the dealer again, They checked the oil level and they advised me it was "Spot On" there exact words. I talked directly to the mechanic and he said again its possible that the super charger needed to break in. I told him that when i checked the oil it was way high on the dip stick. He said they set the oil level the same on all boats a little high but it was within normal limits.
Took the boat out 2 times after that. The second time this past Sunday after boating most of the day I was cursing at about 4000 RPM about half throttle and I heard a swooshing noise. I thought maybe i sucked something up so within a matter of seconds i yanked the key and shut it down. Jumped out of the boat put my goggles on went under and checked the impeller. Impeller looked good. Went to start the boat and nothing. I opened the rear compartment and looked inside the engine and could not believe what i saw. The starter was laying on the bottom of the boat. I jumped back into the engine compartment and disconnected the battery. I then looked at the side of the case and saw a hole. WTF is all i could think. Im not sure what happened yet as I have not taken it back to the dealer yet. There is a hole were the mount of the starter attaches to the engine and the sleeve were the starter goes into the engine is also broke. All the oil started cumming out. I am assuming the dealer did not attach the starter securely when servicing the super charger and pump and it worked its way loose and finally broke the case. I just don't know what to do from here. Im sure the dealer will never admit this was the case.
But one thing is for sure and that is I need a new engine.
This really sucks !!
