Ok.. So to start off WOW!!! This thing rocks.. It is a 2010 Speedster 150 w/ 155hp motor.. Its my very first boat and wow this thing moves.. Loaded it with me, my girl, my brother and his girl.. Close to 700lbs and the Sea-Doo speedo was reading 43-45 and never hit wide open throttle... Just tryign to break her in going through different rpm ranges and whatnot.. had her out for a little over 2hrs.. I must admit though that I made a total a$$ of myself at the loading ramp.. First time launching anything and well i got yelled at.. put her in the water and even in Neutral with 0 throttle this thing was getting 1800 rpms and was all over.. ended up turning around in the narrow strip and it looked like i was gonna hit the dock that people were standing on so i gave a little gas (BIG MISTAKE) and this thing just launched out of the little narrow strip.. of course i apologized to everyone and explained it was my first boat and very first time out on the water with anything like this.. Everyone seemed to cool down and one guy was just tellign me take it slow cuz these things just jump out like that with just a little gas.. But anyway.. Back to the questions...
1 - Noticed while I was out on the water that when I put the key in I would get the 2 beeps but I would also get 4 short beeps if I didnt start it right away.. I just caught a glimpse but i saw the dash light up SENSOR but then went and read compass readings.. Just wondering what this might be.. the book says it should just be that I left the key on and the boat is just trying to remind me to take it off but just seems odd since basically i put the key in get the 2 beeps and 2 seconds later i get 4 beeps.. and then the fact that it lit up SENSOR just had me confused..***May have answered my own question but was just reading the manual and see that if it lights up with SENSOR that it means there is an electronic sensor failure and to see a Sea-DOO dealer.. Now for a new part to this question.. Can the boat be used if there is a sensor failure.. Would kind of suck to not be able to use the boat tomorrow being that its one of the rare times that my girl has off of work on a monday and so do i...
2 - When you are done for the day I know they say to clean the boat but do you actually have to scrub it or will a simple hose down do just fine?? I was in salt water so I just want to make sure I do it right.. I mean I plan on going back out tomorrow but was just curious if I have to actually use a cleaning solution or if a simple hose down works fine...
3 - On to the most important.. Flushing.. Manual says to hook the hose up wihtout letting water out.. start engine.. let water run.. throttle to 4-5k rpm.. turn water off... turn engine off.. I did all that and it looked like ti was working fine.. Question is this.. Is it normal for it to smoke out the back?? I stood behind to make sure everythign looked good and the water shooting out was very hot and there was smoke coming from the rear.. Like I said.. First boat ever so just want to make sure I am doing it all right.. Thanks

24 June 2010 - 05:13 PM
I was talkign with a dealer getting some prices and the dealer said they wont install the depth finder on an 08 speedster 150 because of the time involved... Anyone have any knowledge on how hard this is to get into.. I mean if a Sea-Doo dealer wont install it who will..
Speedster 150's good out in the bay?
24 June 2010 - 04:54 AM
I was just curious if anyone takes their Speedster 150's out in the bay at all. Most videos online show peopl in lakes where hte water is extremely calm. I havnt found a video that showed choppy water all all and I am just curious if these boats can go out at all in choppy water.. I mean I remember going out on my friends bayliner into the bay and the water was choppy and it was fine but the bayliners sit higher up out of the water.. all the videos of the speedster make it look like the water is almost ready to come over the edge as the boat mildly rocks back and forth.. I mean when the speedster is at speed it looks fine but once you stop it just looks like the water can just come right over the edge.. just curious on where most of you guys take your speedster.. I am mostly planning on just taking it out in freshwater lakes and whatnot but would like to know how it handles in more choppy water like the bay and whatnot.. thanks
2008 vs 2009 Speedster 150??
23 June 2010 - 11:23 AM
Ok.. I know I keep posting a lot of questions but just want to get the best available deal possible and also make the right decision.. So anyway.. I was online and found another sweet deal.. It is for a 2008 Speedster 150.. They have both the 155hp and 215hp in stock. The 155hp asking price is 14k with all fees included except tax.. The 215hp has a price of 16k all fees included except tax.. So far the only difference I have found is that the 08's did not come with a depth finder which to be honest is something that I wanted, however I see on sea-doo's site you can have it added for like 340. So I have two questions. Is the 215hp worth the extra money? Also is it worth going to an 08 model? I know they are still brand new but have heard from people that they might be new but have still been sitting for 2+ years.. Just wondering what you guys think on it.. Prices are below for each model but keep in mind this is without any kind of negotiating.. So the prices might get lower or more items might be included..

2009 Sea-Doo Speedster 150 - 155hp - 15k plus tax
2008 Sea-Doo Speedster 150 - 215hp - 16k plus tax plus 340 (Depth Finder)

Quick Maintenance and Routine Questions regading 150 Speedster..
23 June 2010 - 10:44 AM
I am pretty set on going the route of the Speedster.. I was 50/50 on which to get but figure im probably better off going with teh speedster 150 only for the fact that I can take more people out and at the same time do the fun stuff like pull tubes, skis, fish or just hang out.. I was having dinner with my parents and mentioned I was going to take a ride to teh dealership and they both jumped on me saying that I was stupid for wanting to get a boat and that I am just in for a world of headaches and that boats are just a burden on the pocket... My father ripped into me about all the costs associated with boats and to be honest I just find this hard to believe... I mean so many people have boats that arnt millionaires so how can it be that expensive.. I plan on purchasing the 2009 Sea-Doo Speedster 150.. It is the 155hp version so no supercharger or anything like that.. Its really just for me and my girlfriend and maybe brother to go out with mostly... But anyway.. I was just curious if anyone had a breakdown of what maintenance will be like and also what the routine is for before and after using a boat.. I am brand new to the boating world other then renting one here and there.. The speedster will be brand new with 0 hours on it and a 4 year warranty.. So anyway.. I didnt know if anyone had a run down or maybe an average figure on how much maintenance will cost each year between oil changes, winterizing, etc.. Also I was wondering what the routine is for before and after riding.. I will be trailoring the boat each time I use it.. I know you are supposed to hose it down afte each use and drain it.. But my father mentioned running a hose through it or something and said there is a bunch of other stuff.. he said that its 2 hours prep minimum before going out..
