I know, this is going to sound stupid.
I'm planning on going to the beach, fishing in the Intercoastal waterway. Yeah, off of a 2000 Sportster LE. HA!!! My question is will I ruin anything with the motor off anchored in the water for extended periods of time.
The reason for this stupid question is because the guy who had this boat before me flooded the motor with water; by trying to run it out of water with a water hose hooked to the bottom (output) side of the motor. I think he had the water turned on before cranking the motor myself, but my only worries are that the output hose connection is submersed when the boat is in the water.
Am I just getting nervous about getting ran over in the waterway by a yacht, or is this a legit issue?
Thanks,
Marcus

hestitation/bog down on light accel
23 April 2010 - 08:23 AM
I'm new to jet boats, so I'd appreciate any help.
I have a 2000 Sportster LE that runs fine at idle and fast (6,000 - 6,500rpms). Unfortunately, that's all I have; slow and fast. HA!! If I try to accelerate from idle slowly, it hesitates/bogs down and tries to stall out - usually does in fact. I have to romp the throttle to and let it go straight up to 6,000rpms to run. I have no mid range speed. I'm thinking the carbs need rebuiling/cleaning. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Marcus

Hello from NC USA
22 April 2010 - 08:56 PM
Hello from Rocky Mount, NC. I'm rather new to the jet boat market. I just purchased a 2000 Sporster LE recently and figured this site would help understand what I've got. I've messed a lot with automobiles in my time, but definitely new to the 2 cycle world and jet propulsion. One issue I'm having I'd like some help with involves acceleration. Idle is fine, top end seems fine. If I try to accelerate slowly, it bogs down - if not tries to stall out completely. In others I have slow and fast, but nothing in between. I'm thinking maybe the carbs need rebuilding. Any ideas? I appreciate any help at this point. Thanks. Marcus
