I'm rathar new to the whole jet boat scene so I am giving my opinion with very limited experience. I purchased a used 2003 Sporster DI for this boating season as my previous1975 V-4 Johnson had finally died. Our end of the lake had gone from slightly weedy to extreme, surface patches of weeds in recent years, I thought a jet would be the answer in this type of enviroment but was I ever wrong. To make a long story short the marina has had my Seadoo boat more this summer than I have. Everytime it's the plastic wear ring that is destroyed from all the weeds according to my dealer. Well I've thrown in the towel and sold it back to the marina and going back to an outboard,
Is this the way all jet drives are in a weedy lake or is there something else wrong here? Thanks!
PS On the few outings it did work this boat was a great, with encredible acceleration, superior handling and very fast.
