I'm new to the Sportster boat. I have been working on mine for 2 weeks and went out for a sea trial today. Could only get 4500 RPM's, One plug was wet & oily, checked further and found that the plug wire was faulty. Corrected it and now get 7200 RPM's, different boat!!

I'm new to the Sportster and have a 2002 le model. I was doing my first real trial and also could only get 4500 RPM's. Turned out that the problem was as simple as one of the plug wires was faulty. Runs like a champ now.
Hope yours ould be this simple.

Just purchased a 2002 Sportster le 2 days ago, it's still raining so I haven't gotten to test it out yet.
I live in western Florida and we have a lot of water to explore.
Hope to find some manuals for this boat somewhere.
