I just bought a used 2008 speedster 150 with 155 hp engine. The boat has just 4 hours on it and is in great condition. I took it out and it ran good but I wanted to get an idea of the top speed. I briefly ran it full throttle with about 550 lbs of people and a full tank of gas. I topped out at 38 mph on speedo and 42 on gps. I later ran it with about 270 lbs of people and full tank of gas and it topped out at 43mph on speedo and 45 on gps. I am curious on what other people are getting for speed. Will this get better after the break in period.
Also, while I was cleaning the hull real good, I noticed that there appeared multiple spots of silicone caulk on the hull. It cleaned up OK, but I looked up and noticed that on the bottom side of the bumper strip it is caulked all along the bump strip. It seems to be on a little sloppy and it just seems odd to me to have silicone caulk all along the bumper strip. The silicone is peeling of the rubber but is holding well on the hull. Does everyone else have this? I still have 2 weeks of factory warranty left from previous owner and I am wondering if I should buy an extended warranty.
I am fairly new to boats but this boat is a lot of fun. It will be nice to get past the break in period.
Thanks for any help and opinions.
Very similiar #'s here, just cam back from the river and run the boat on a gps tonight, I got a best of 46 with me sitting in the middle by my self @ 265 lbs. I had 2/3 to 3/4 fuel and about 40 lbs of safety stuff. I am consistantly 1 mph slower if seated on the right seat and alone. The surprising thing is I only lost 1 to 2 mph when adding an extra 300 lbs of passangers. I think a little more break in and maybe synthetic oil ??? a good wax or rainx on the bottom with low fuel and we might just hit the 50 mph barrier.
I really care not about the top speed but have a friend with an identicle boat and sooner or later !!!!!!!!
