Thanks in advanced for the help....
Issue 1: I never thought this was an issue until i started looking through the forum for issues related to the wear ring.
from a stop ill put the throttle about 80% forward and it will rev and then a second or two later it will feel like it would catch and then lift up and begin to plane, Ive read that its supposed to "jump out of the water"
Thoughts?
Issue 2: Driving around today towing, after we stopped to pull the tuber back in, when we started it back up and would go 80% throttle to get going, it wouldnt feel like it would rev as high and was EXTREMELY sluggish. so I limped it all the way back to the marinia. Looked into the back portion of impeller and it looked like gunk was in there. walked to the marina store to get a flash light, and ended up bumping into a sea doo mechanic, and he took a quick look, i just told him it looked like i sucked up something. I didnt mention anything to him about it being extremely sluggish.
He crawled under the boat (on the trailer at this point) and looked at it and said i def. sucked something up and the wear ring was toast! but the impeller looks perfect. (told me to take it to his shop and they could get to in in 3 weeks)
But I guess im really not 100% understanding what role the wear ring plays. so if that was to go bad, would that be a cause to this issue? or even issue number 1?
Thoughts?
Issue 3: I heard a humming noise, the sea doo guy looked at it and said the floater was up or open on the beilge pump. can someone explain that and a how to fix for that?

1996 Speedster doesnt want to start after being turned off in water
21 June 2009 - 07:43 AM
I picked up a 96 Sportster last week, It has a new motor from sea doo, impeller upgrade. I took it out to lake anna today, and it started no problem at the landing dock, and we rode around for abour 20-30 min. put it in Neutral, and shut her off. hooked up a tube and it didnt want to start again. it would turn over but wouldnt fire. so i just kept trying and it finally fired up.
Rode around with the tube, and again turned it off and unhooked the tube. brought the tuber in and this time it beeped when trying to start (im guessing there the key wasnt all the way in and/or the boat wasn't fully in nuetral.
I would get a Beep beep beep, and then sometimes a solid beep. (what do different beeps mean?)
so after playing around with the gear select it would turn over. same thing wouldnt fire up pull the choke, nothing. put the choke back in and just kept cranking and it fired up. When we got back to the dock in the no wake area, it was just crusing in on idle. and it sounded like it wanted to stall out.
I pulled the plugs when I got home and they aren't too bad, im going to go ahead and toss in a new pair. and the battery was at 70% and about 12.9 volts.
I noticed after putting teh boat away that the fuel select was on reserver, imt not sure why or how it got turned to that, so i just turned it back to normal. I haven't tried to fire it up yet until i grab the new plugs.
I was told to gap the plugs at .020 is that about right for everyone else?
I know this is a long post, but Id figure i'd give everyone as much info as possible
