Nope... limp mode had a very distinctive stutter when you get to 2500 RPM. I bet you lost one bank of coils. Check the spark on all 6.

it's amazing... you can loose 3 cyls on the merc engines... and they run/sound great... they just don't make any power.

The outer guide sheath has pulled out of the housing. Pull the rubber boot back, and you will probably see it.

Time for a new cable.

It's burnt out. Replace the switch.
