Hi All,
I tow my 02 Speedster with my 5 speed 03 Mustang convertible. The two limit of my car is 1200Lbs but it has the drive train of an F150. I thought the limit was just for “safety” until I hooked up the trailer and watched the ass end of my car hit the ground.
So, after finding out (the hard way) that the tow limit of a car is largely based on the amount of tongue weight, and given the fact that I was not about to get rid of my rag top or my boat I bought an Air-Lift 1000 kit. The kit was $100.00, easy to install and with just 20Lbs of air in the bellows the ride height came back to normal with a fully loaded trunk and Speedster. I have towed my boat behind my wife’s Trailblazer I actually prefer to use my car, as it is not affected by gusts of wind like the Trailblazer. I don’t have to concentrate on steering as much at highway speeds. I even found myself in a bit of a race with some guy in a big Dodge truck and a bass boat that I’m sure afterwards was shaking his fist at us Sea-Doo drivers.
So vwDavid as long as you give yourself lots of room, remember about brake-fade and give your rear suspension a little help there should be no reason why you be stuck buying a truck.

Air Lift 1000 is made from a very durable polyurethane material and is inserted into the vehicle's stock coil springs. When filled with air, it increases the spring rate, or ability to support a load. Because of its design, Air Lift 1000 products are best stated as load support products, rather than lifting products.

Hi johnnybagz,
I had to have the metal plate under the foam of the cooler lid and driver side compartment re-glued due to a gust of wind hyper-extending the support cables. But don’t worry it was no big deal.
I am surprised that your ski pylon bent. I have had two round tubes and 500lbs in a three man tube on my pylon with no issues. However I am wondering why if you have Challenger X that you don’t hook your toys up the wake-board rack. I did that behind a mastercraft and loved every minute.
I can’t even comment on the cracks in your floor. Let us know what Doo says.
Good luck with the motor,
Keith

Tiggerman,Also, go here : http://www.uscgboati...ers_report.aspx
and make a report . This is a safety defect no matter what anyone thinks.
Thanks for the information, however the link you attached in your reply is to report a problem in the US. Do you know one would go to do the same in Canada?
Keith
Also, does anyone have any idea what size the nut is to get the impeller off and/or a tool to hold the drive shaft while doing so? I find myself doing all the service on my DOO cause all the Sea-Doo dealers in my area don’t service Mercury and all the Mercury dealers don’t have the special jet-pump tools. Am I the only that thinks that if the boat manual says to lube the impeller shaft once a year, and even if you owned all of Sears 6000000 hand tools you would not be able to do it, that they would provide the tool?
Even I bought the Mercury tool for taking that nut off, the service manual suggests that if the stator seal is being replaced at the same time, remove it and use it to support the tool so there is less chance gouging the shaft. However it says nothing on how to support the $56 USD tool if you are not replacing the seal. So what happens when you take your DOO to the dealer for a yearly service, does the technician just take his chances applying 150LBs of torque with a tool that looks like a very large spark-plug wrench and no support? That brings me back to my last point Sea-Doo gave me a spark-plug wrench with my boat….. I think that when I get the nut size I will tool my own tool.
