I replaced my 240 EFI motor that had a bad crank, couple bad pistons and rods with a new 210. I was told to rebuild would be several thousand. The Block, Heads, EFI and all other parts attached to the motor are good so looking to sell off as a package or in pieces if anyone is in need of parts.

I've experienced this too, if you jam the throttle, it cavitates, if you ease up, you can acheive top speed. Any idea why from the experts?
Does not look too bad being a PWC guy from before. I can't figure out why top end has not changed though. It is only from out of the hole. The only thing is the spring on the intake grate is not as springy as it used to be. It does not hod shut very hard anymore. Do you think a weak spring would do that ?

The pump is cavitating, it can be because there is something inside the pump, or like others mentioned the wear ring needs replacement. Mine does this time to time, try to throttle up, very slowly, often once you get it on plane, you can get the boat going and the problem goes away. Buy the mercury service manual, $80, call mercury direct to get it, you need a couple specialized tools, but you can do the repair yourself for less than a thousand. A wear ring and stator replacement at a sea doo dealer costs about $1500
In Topic: Salt Water --- Can you leave boat in salt water?

Practically speaking, it is impossible to do all those things if you keep the boat in a marina like I do. It's 5 years old now, in salt water, and no problems related to it. Plenty of others, but nothing wrong with motor...
