Hi everyone
I just bought a 2004 Speedster 160 with a Merc. M2 Jet drive 240HP. It is in real good condition-previous owner told me it has only had 3 tanks of fuel run through it.(Maybe B.S. but he seemed pretty honest)
I was wondering if there are different impellers available that could change performance etc. Or are there simple mods avail for the engine. I don't want to change things drastically but if there are simple things that can be done to improve performance it would be good to know.
As well is there a way to check the impeller/jet for wear etc? I get approx. 45 mph out of the boat but that is with a half tank of fuel (tank is 150Litres) and myself in it (200lbs) but I was told this boat should do upwards 50-55mph? It would be nice to get the an "M2 Operators Manual" - if anybody has one you can send me a note.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Merc 240 HP Serial#

Hi Gang.
Can someone describe where I would find the engine serial # for a 2004 Speedster 160 with the V6 Mercury 240Hp. Maybe what kind of a number I am looking for as well - re: how many digits, what it might start with? I called Mercury and a dealer and am getting conflicting opinions.
Thanks for your help.
I am now a proud owner of this boat ( I haven't picked ti up yet). Any tips, things to watch for?

Blistered gel Coat

Hi gang, I am looking at buying a 2005 150 155Hp, but it has some slight blistering on the bottom of the hull in the gel coat. Should this be of concern, how hard /pricey to repair? If anyone has some experience with this and can help out it would be appreciated. Thanks

What to buy

Hi everyone
I am looking to purchase a SeaDoo Sportster sport boat and need help as to which engine - HP I should be looking for. It will basically be used as a run-about on a lake, we will do tubing mostly, some water skiing and probably when my little guy gets bigger (he is 3.5 years old right now) wake boarding.
What should I be looking at? I have a line on a 2005 LE DI 130HP as well as a 2003 155HP. Or should I be looking at the 215HP? Is the 215HP supercharged and does that effect reliability at all? Any and all help is appreciated. What about fuel economy as well?
Thanks

Is 130hp enough power?
30 July 2008 - 06:26 PM
I am thinking about buying a 2005 Sportster LE DI and would like to know if the 130hp engine has enough power to pull water skier(single ski), tube or a wake board. Also how is the reliability with this engine. Is it fuel injected? 2 stroke or a 4stroke?
Should I be think about getting the 155hp or the 215hp. Can someone also clarify the difference between the 155hp engine and the 215 hp, is the 215 supercharged?
Thanks for your input.
