I have just bought a 3 gallon Quicksilver high premium grade oil container for my Speedster and was shocked at the price ($103 AU)!!!! Now if this oil is some miraculous formula which will do wonderful things for my beloved Mercury V6 then so be it, I'm happy to pay a premium for a premium product.....however, if there is a cheaper alternative that is proven to contain the same qualities of the Quicksilver (Mercury) brand, please let me know. I have heard Valvoline mentioned in a forum? I am well aware that Mercury only recommends their products and can void warrenties on new boats if they can prove you have used something else....and so would I if I was Mercury!! We need the facts on oil contents....not Mercury's claims to be the only oil for that motor.
