My '03 Sportster 4 tec norm asperated Tach frooze up many times and finaly ended up to pointing straight down upon spring startup. Cleaned contacts, no luck, checked incomming sig. it was good. Checked ground, it was good. Gave the tach a couple of raps with a 3/8" socket 6" extention, needle cam unlodged. Plugged it and it was slow to respond to ignition pulse test when ign. turned on would go to 5k and stick. I unpluged it and ( tach was already taken loose from dash ) put a spary staw on a can of CRC and removed the light from the tach. I then sprayed CRC inside the tach. Then pluged it in and powered it, tach went from 0 to 5500, powered it again and it did a little better, kept on powering on and off a dozen times and it moved freely from 0 to 8k no problems, it now responds correctly when in use. Only - was I do have a little CRC visable inside the lense but only a drop or two and CRC will not hurt plastic!!!
