Hello all. I bought a project 1999 challenger 1800. twin 787. the boat needed lots of work, i did some of the uphosltery, came out pretty nice. now when it came time for the engine, driver side turns just fine. Passenger side engine doesnt even turn, when i press the start button I hear a click near the distributor and another click when i depress the start button. I also disconnected the power cable to the starter and same thing happened, nothing changed. what can i do from here?
Not sure if this will be a help.. a friend of mine has a utopia.. 2005 it has a different engine twin 115hp I think.. one of his engines would not start the other day.. and someone told him to do a reset.. by turning off the one engine.. moving throttle forward back and forward and reverse.. I think his has a key start.. with key on but not starting.. let it sit for 30 sec.. and then his engine started.. someone told him a computer/control device(not sure what device) needed to be reset.. anyway.. it worked for him...
In Topic: HELP! alarm on Challenger????
05 September 2011 - 11:43 PM
I just bought a used Challenger 2000 (year also 2000). When I start the engine a constant alarm sounds until you push the "FUEL WARNING SYSTEM" button beside the steering wheel. The guy I bought it from said it was a warning alarm for "FUEL WARNING SYSTEM", but after reading the manual it might mean engine overheating.
When I took the boat out today the alarm went off when I started it and then I pressed the FUEL WARNING SYSTEM button to stop the sound. About a half hour later the alarm went off again so I pressed the FUEL WARNING SYSTEM button again to stop the sound. WHen It was bring the boat in for the day I tied it up to the dock and turned the engine off. When i started it back up the alarm went off again but this time when I pressed the "FUEL WARNING SYSTEM" button the alarm continued????? Is a a gas or engine problem??
In the manual the FUEL WARNING SYSTEM button is suppose to beep but the sound I hear is a constant sound.
Thanks
Mike
Have the same problem.. one is if you hit the fuel switch quickly it will turn off.. if you wait a bit .. it will not turn off until you turn off the engine.. its the fuel sender in the tank.. it needs to be replace.. I even used a laser therm on my engine just to make sure the engine was not over heating.. gettin a new sender in a week or two.. I called and emailed seadoo. and called many dealers and everyone said over heat. even Seadoo could not tell me the beep codes.. but to be safe.. check oil reserve tank on engine, check temp, if all seems fine. its the sender in the tank
