First consideration was prop or jet. I went jet for the quickness and safety of not having a prop. Even though several people I know have props, and one had owned an old islander.
Next was size. The 180 with 8 passengers had enough room, unless ALL my relatives show up. And the trailer with swing away tongue would fit in the garage. Its also a light boat. Actually, light enough to get on and off the trailer without much help (or none as an 11 and 15 yrs old girls aren't much help).
Third decision was new or used. I went new since I have never owned a boat and wanted the security of a warranty.
All in all, I am very happy. A few small things I would like to see different now, but if this one sank tomorrow, I would buy another the minute the insurance check arrived.
