2001 Speedster 240 EFI. When engine hasn't been running for a day or longer, it will start right up but dies when put into forward or reverse. It acts like a carb engine with out using the choke when cold. Sometimes it takes 8-10 starts before it will stay going. Once you can get the RPM's above 2000-3000 RPM it runs like a raped Ape. Anybody know what might be going on here? I checked the service manual under troubleshooting and it doesn't list this condition. I'm sure there has to be an enrichment function done by the computer to aleviate this when cold but that sounds like programming problems, I don't have the equipment for doing this. Any help would be appreciated.

have you checked if the fuel has become contaminated with water - that was a wild guess by the way!
The boat that just passed you was a seadoooooooooooo.

I haven't checked the water trap but I will. I just bought the boat a few weeks ago and have run several tanks agas thru it from different gas stations so I kinda doubt its water but thanks for the suggestion.

There is a device called temp sensor . Not sender ,thats for gage. The sensor tells eng computer eng is cold .THe computer has the injectors spray more fuel and brings the idle up . The same effect as a choke . You would need a scan tool to "read" the sensor to verify or take a chance .it was a wild guess but its worth a check.

Cool, Thanks for the advice. I found in the manual how to functional check the sensor, (there are two) with just a multimeter. I'll check them and let you know for future reference.

I to have the same prob. It seems like the choke. I will also check the sensors. I have had my boat for a few years. My prob is on hot days above 80 F or when the engine is halfe warm. Last year I took it to the dealer to get it fix and thay had it for 2weeks and never fixed the prob. The sensors does sound like the prob. I will check them and get back to all of you. Thank you for the great help. I will never take my Doo to the dealer again.

You are correct . you can check the sensors with an ohm meter . I have not seen a seadoo manual and did not know they had a temp to resistance conversion chart.Thanks for the extra info.Cool, Thanks for the advice.
