I went out on Lake Arlington yesterday. The water is still cold, but the weather was very nice. I found the sweet spot for the trim tab where it provides some trim without causing a lot of drag and losing speed. I was running 53mph on the dream-o-meter. My engines wouldn't rev over 6500rpm driving at full throttle. Must be the new Skat's. I must be getting as much speed as my engines will produce. I noticed the left engine not reving up as fast as the right. I'm rather curious as to what might be causing this. I know I need to rebuild my carbs, but I'm trying to put it off until the end of season.
I made a couple of hard right hand turns at full throttle. When the turn was at least a 180 I'd hear what sounded like a grinding and popping that sounded like it was coming from the left engine. The first time I heard it I thought my trim tab had tore loose. Nothing is wrong in the bilge and the motors seem to be mounted solidly. Any ideas what this sound might be? I did a couple of right hand turns, but I only had the engines at about 90% throttle.
I've takens pic of the trim tab. I'll be posting them here in the near future.
Thanks,
Rob

That's about right. The Skats load better than the stock. My engines wouldn't rev over 6500rpm driving at full throttle. Must be the new Skat's. I must be getting as much speed as my engines will produce.
Popping and grinding doesn't sound good- did you leave the stock driveshaft protectors on? If so, I found on mine that they were too long with the Skat Traks on (the nose is longer than the stock impeller) and they hit the blades. I had to trim them back when I still had them installed. I don't use them anymore, so no big deal. Look up into the intake and see if they are touching the impellers. If not, I'm at a loss .....
I still want to see pics of that tab....not that it matters anymore since the Speedster sold this weekend!!!
