Just wondering what is the best thing I could do to add a little more hp. Nothing too expensive, say 500 or less. Hopefully there is something. Thanks.

Personally I have done no engine mods to my Doo, but there are kits available from Perry Performance Group to do just that. They aren't for the light-in-the-pocketbook.... The only things I have done to my Doo are in the driveline area. Keeping the driveshafts sealed and the impeller intake area smooth and clean has done wonders for out of the hole "stand-on-it" takeoffs. The boat has plenty of top-end, even with 4 people in it.
Changing you impellers could help as well, although they aren't cheap either. There are many differently pitched impellers on the market, and choosing the correct one is no picnic. The wrong pitch can cause a decrease in performance.
My boat has SkatTrak 14/22 pitch impellers- I have no idea if they were stock or an upgrade by the previous owner so I can't relate whether or not there was a performance increase by doing it. Hope this helps a little. I haven't worried about adding horsepower, only making the most of the 170 HP I already have!

There is not much for $500 or less...... Now this is depending on which model you have and how old. Like tiggerman said.....try checking into some impellars to see if anyone else has done this and what performance they gained.Just wondering what is the best thing I could do to add a little more hp. I really think that the best upgrade is to beef up the engine, however you might decide to do that. Trim tabs, impellars.....etc etc ....most of this stuff is already looked at when they build the boats. If you compare how much these upgrades cost to engine upgrades......then factor in the gains....I personally think the engine is where its at....FIRST of course

No problem! Check here also for engine mods:

There was an inexpensive bolt on cylinder head mod there. Read everything!

I'm surprised they didn't allow for Chip upgrades... This would have been a neat performance upgrade that would be easy as heck.
Well lets see what the "new" Bombadier family comes up with on the next generation boats.
