Im assuming there an after market mod seeing mine has none, so what advice does anyone have for the affects and advantages of them? what types also.

If you do a search you can find a previous discussion on this from last year. They're definitely after-market.Ive been reading peoples responses and ive noticed a lot of mentioning about trim tabs.

There are only 2 ways I know of to install tabs on our boats. There are tabs that have a shock absorber style piston that will mount on each side of our transom and attach under the swim deck. Or one can get an actuator driven single tab and mount it in the center of the transom between the engines. The shock absorber types are always down and it is recommended one doesn't doo 360's. I've mounted a single tab under the center, but I haven't gotten the switch connected or taken the boat out yet. It worked fine at speed up until I ground it on the ramp. After installing the tab I pretty well lost all reverse. The first time out I didn't get a good shove off the trailer. It looks like transducer scrapped on the bottom and was ruined. I just used it so I'd know the depth. I've been to 6 different lakes since I got the boat last season. Since I'm not familiar with the area I'm running the boat in I thought I'd better know the depth. The fishfinder only cost $69 so I bought it. I have a new transducer. I'm experimenting with a transom mount. First time out I lost depth at speed. So, I've lower the transducer for my next outing. I'd doo an in hull mount, but I also like to see the water temp.just out of interest your fishfinder transducer which i presume is at the end of the wire on your transom - does that get confused with the amount of airwhich is generated at the rear of the baot or do you only use it when stationary for fishing?????

I'll have to look and see is they are there.Look at your reverse buckets, and see if it has the metal block-off plates installed on the center ends of the buckets (the end by your tab cylinder). The outside ends are open, and the inside ends are normally blocked. Take the plates off and see if this improves reverse any. I wouldn't have thought the single tab would have obstructed much, but I guess it does.

Thanks for the advise! My either myself or the guy I bought the boat from had these swapped. The plates were directing water to the center and that trim tab. I'm not sure if the boat was that way when I bought it last year or if I put my water pumps on wrong when I changed my impeller and did the retro fit at the beginnning of this season. I should be able to reverse this next outing.Look at your reverse buckets, and see if it has the metal block-off plates installed on the center ends of the buckets (the end by your tab cylinder). The outside ends are open, and the inside ends are normally blocked. Take the plates off and see if this improves reverse any. I wouldn't have thought the single tab would have obstructed much, but I guess it does.
