Anyone Have a suggestion for where and what size GPS to install on a 2011
180 Challenger. I take the boat to different places and an electronic compass is helpful.

I am using a unit that you use in cars with the dash board suction cup and cig lighter power cable. It works ok for me, I cross a 30 mile open ocean channel in limited visibility.

I am goign down a similar route but using an Ipad with Navionics charts. RAM mount suction cup and a Ringo backing on the pad. Will have to find a good way to tape up all the ports on it to get it as boat friendly as possible.

I tested my tablet with that software once, it froze up on my 20 miles offshore and I was unable to restart the program and drive at the same time. Yes, using your ipad is cool, but "don't put all of your eggs in one basket". If GPS navigation is critical to your outing, don't depend on the ipad or a tablet.
I used an Otter Box case made for my tablet.

Thanks FJ. I don't think I will be venturing that far from land just yet. What app are you using for your navigation?
