On that 97 Speedster I just bought. The tag office advised I could deduct the value of the engine (twin 85 rotax) to determine the sales tax owed. Does anyone know a source where I could find this information? I tried the online NADA but they only do outboards.....

Very good question. I have no idea. I just did a search on ebay for "rotax" and found about 3 pages of stuff but no engines like ours. What about calling a dealer and see what they can find out for you? I wonder if they can order a whole engine? I imagine it would be incredibly expensive but if they can order one they should be able to give you the price. Get them to print it out and keep it for your records.

If we are speaking of a value you can deduct here ....Then call a dealer and ask for retail price...
