I have a 2009 Challenger 180 and since day 1, the speedometer reading is off. We changed the uptake mechanism on the back of the boat last month, but it did not help. I used a GPS unit to test the speedometer. When the speedometter read 15 the GPS was 22, at 25 it was 34-35 and at 39 the gps was 51. So it appears to be
exponential in nature. Dealer claims he keeps calling BRP, but just gets put on hold. Wanted to see if anyone else had a problem and how it was solved.

Wrong speedometer reading

This is a strange one, but we actually noticed our analog speedometer was off a couple weekends ago in our 210 Wake. When we compared it again the digital read out, it was off by 10-20 mph depending on the water conditions. Later in the day it started working normally again and it was reading the same as our digital read out.
I cannot say what was causing the problem, but I do have it on our list of things for the dealer to investigate during the off-season, it will be our luck that the dealer will not be able to replicate the issue though.
Keep us posted if you find a solution and I will do the same.

I had the same problem with my 2010 Challenger 180 SE last summer, the dealer first replaced the small speedo unit on the back of the boat, still off by 10-15 miles per hour (depending on your speed). Then after they replaced it...it was worse!...I insisted that they need to get it fixed (they kept saying most boats are off some).
They took it in again and replaced the dash Speedo unit...it was not even close after that...no improvement.
They finally got the head BRP tech on and told they it was the placement of the speedo unit on the back of the boat. The tech said to increase the acuracy he should move the unit up or down to increase the accuracy.
MUCH better! Mine is pretty darn close now...maybe 1-2 at slower speeds and maybe 2-3 at higher speeds.
