I am thinking about buying a 2000 Challenger 1800 and was wondering if there are any issues with this motor. I have worked on many jet ski motors, but have had no experience with these.
Any Opinions? John

Mine has been rock solid, no problems at all. It is also reassuring that we have many local Mercury dealers that can help if something does go wrong.

I'm with Stephen. Check with your local dealer to see if they will service Mercury outboards as the M2 is basically an upright Mercury 6 cylinder outboard mounted on the Mercury jet pump.
Many BRP dealers shy away, but if they were around, they will help you out. Find out in advance. It's your best hope.
As most here will agree, it's cheaper to fix rotax, but the Merc may require less work.
Good luck!
