Good Morning
I recently went to plug a phone charger into the DC outlet on my boat and it began to smoke. Any thought on why this would be and if it needs to be replaced, how hard of a job is this?
I am also looking to purchase a Chartplotter GPS for my boat and am looking to spend under $500. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you checked the fuse?

Would that cause it to smoke, or just not work? I will check it though.

It could be related if it is causing a short, might be the incorrect fuse or a wiring issue.
