Hello, I am buying used 2002 Utopia powered by optimax 250, asking price 1400 CAN
Owner claims it has 200Hours, but there is no meter to verify it.
I am looking to get an advice here on what to look for to make sure the boat will perform trouble free in the future.
Is a compression test absolutely necessary or a test drive and visual inspection of the engine sufficient to tell how much it was used?
And perhaps an advice if this model/engine is a good combination in terms of reliability or should I invest more money and buy a newer 4 stroke models. Also, is 200Hours a lot for this engine?
Thank you in advance, Alex

Welcome. I bought our first Sea-Doo, a 160 Speedster, with just a test drive and visual inspection. It really depends on your comfort level and how you feel the boat is performing, if you have doubts let a mechanic take a look at the boat. Keep us posted.
