Hi folks,
New to this so let me know if this is the wrong place to ask a ???
My son was washing off our 2001 challenger 2000 and he put the hose right up against the gas tank vent hole (black threaded hole on outside right side of boat, next to bilge hole) - not sure how much water got in.
Is there a check valve or something that prevents water from entering from the outside? If not - any way to test if I have water in the tank.
Thanks in advance- Scott

Scott,
Welcome to the site. I am not aware of anyway to test if there is water in the tank. I would say if you think a significant amount of water got in there you could siphon it out and start with fresh gas just to be safe.

Do you know if the water/fuel seperator (filter) will take care of any water in the tank?

It is really hard to say, especially not knowing how much water actually got in there.

Kevin
Thanks for the info....
Update
Well I decided to go the route of draining the Tank - I used a 3/8" hose and several gas cans.
Note you can't put the hose right down the fill line (screen at tank will stop the line) - I decided to remove the fuel tube assembly - very easy to remove and gave me direct access to the bottom most part of the fuel tank - where any water would have collected.
I then placed the hose (BTW - I bought a colored orange 3/8" air hose for this - so I could see the position of the hose in the tank) in the tank and siphoned the fuel out - all-in all took about 30min.
I will use some of the fuel in my lawnmower etc...
Well worth the time and small expense (3 new gas cans) instead of a fouled engine
